All Elite Wrestling first launched in 2019 and Jim Ross has been with the company since the beginning. The legendary wrestling announcer has been an integral part of the AEW announce team, but he hasn’t been on TV regularly in recent months due to health issues.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that while Jim Ross did recently return to the commentary table for the 8/5 episode of AEW Collision his contact with All Elite Wrestling is currently set to expire next month.

“Jim Ross returned on the 8/5 Collision. He only came out to do the main event of C.M. Punk vs. Ricky Starks. It was not announced ahead of time he’d be there, nor mentioned during the show until his music played. He’d previously said and told us he was targeting London as a hoped for date for his return but beat that by three weeks. His contract expires in September.”

At this point in time it’s not clear if Tony Khan plans to sign Jim Ross to a new deal. Should AEW decide to part ways with Jim Ross it will be interesting to see if he ends up working elsewhere or ends up retiring from announcing. We’ll have to wait and see what the future holds, but with his contract expiring next month it’s likely that an update will be provided in the weeks to come.
