Last year CM Punk was fired from AEW following a backstage incident that took place at the All In pay-per-view in London. CM Punk has since returned to WWE, and he openly discussed his AEW run during an interview with Ariel Helwani this week. As the internet was reacting to the interview several AEW stars took to social media to post tweets showing their support for All Elite Wrestling.

Fightful Select reports that when they reached out to talents they said that more than anything it was about supporting the company. One supporter of AEW said that the interview was bound to happen, but they hope that’s the last they hear of it, and that one day fences can be mended.

An AEW veteran talent said that more than anything the interview shows that the situation was preventable from all sides. The veteran talent added that CM Punk is happy now, and AEW talent have moved on, so hopefully everyone can learn from the situation and make amends in the future.

WWE talent were said to be all over the place with one talent noting that they figured Punk would be answering AEW questions before long even though there’s an NDA in place. Another talent said they preferred it to happen this week in order to get it out of the way so everyone hopefully move on by the time the weekend comes.

All that’s being said about CM Punk’s WWE return is that everything is so far, so good. People on the WWE executive side who spoke on the subject said that they knew the topic of AEW was likely to come up, but didn’t believe Punk wanted to broach the subject. CM Punk is unlikely to be working a heavy media schedule this week because he’s still recovering from an injury.

CM Punk will be appearing at WrestleMania 40 this weekend as he’s set to do commentary for the Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre match. Stay tuned for updates.
