Chelsea Green has been working her way up the ladder in WWE for years now, and she finally became WWE Women’s Champion when she won a five way ladder match at the SummerSlam premium live event earlier this month. Unfortunately for Green she suffered a broken orbital bone last week which has led to a lot of questions regarding what the future holds for the new champion.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select is reporting that WWE is not looking to divert away from Chelsea Green’s momentum. It was noted that Green is currently expected to be out of action for a number of weeks after breaking her orbital bone on the 8/7 episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
A source added that Chelsea Green is not expected to be stripped of the WWE Women’s Championship at this time. As of 8/12 the expectation was that Green would be appearing on the 8/14 episode of SmackDown.
It’s being said that those at WWE were impressed by the social media numbers that were generated due to Chelsea Green winning the WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam.
