The Wall Street Journal recently broke the news that Vince McMahon is using his voting power to force his way back into WWE in order to pursue a sale of the company. The report noted that Vince feels the window is closing on a sale ahead of WWE’s next media rights deal. The news surprised quite a few people in the wrestling world and it sounds like many in WWE were surprised as well.
Fightful Select reports that they’ve heard from dozens of people in WWE who were all floored by the announcement. It was noted that no one they spoke to in any department including talent, creative, production, and the staff knew about the information before the story broke.
A top talent who wasn’t given any information asked what the possibilities of a return to creative would be for Vince as that has been a concern among talent. Two sources from creative said they have not heard of any changes so far and that they received notes for SmackDown before the story was released by the Wall Street Journal.
One talent said that finding the news out online is scary, and they hope the situation with current management doesn’t change while adding that they have a lot of respect for Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Another talent believes there will be an uproar among the roster if Vince returns to creative. A recently signed talent said that they would be “blown away” if Vince returned to creative.
Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
