CM Punk dropped the WWE World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns in the night 2 main event of WrestleMania 42, and he last appeared on WWE programming the next night on Raw. The Second City Saint has been off television for months now, and there have been a number of rumors making the rounds regarding his absence.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that even though CM Punk is earmarked for SmackDown when he returns, he has been pushing hard to return on the 7/6 episode of Monday Night Raw because it’s in Chicago.
CM Punk’s absence from television was basically to get him ready for SmackDown and eventually a program with Cody Rhodes. It was also noted that it would not be correct to say there have been no issues. It’s being said that they’re not as bad as some have made them out to be, but it’s not like there aren’t any issues at all.
As of this writing WWE’s official website is advertising CM Punk for the 7/6 episode of Monday Night Raw in Chicago, and he’s also being advertised for Fanatics Fest in New York City on 7/19.
