There’s been a lot of talk about releases over the last few months and recently Tay Melo’s status with All Elite Wrestling has become a hot topic. It had been reported that Melo had requested her release, and Tony Khan recently shared a big update on the situation.
During a media call for the AEW Redemption pay-per-view, Tony Khan confirmed that Tay Melo did indeed request her release a few weeks ago. According to Tony Khan, Tay Melo is looking to step away from wrestling, and he’s planning on granting her release request.
“With Tay, Tay had said she wanted to step away from wrestling. She said, ‘I love AEW and I love the people here, but I want to step away from AEW and step away from wrestling.’ That’s what she told me. That wasn’t in 2025, that was weeks ago at Collision after she wrestled against The Divine Dominion.
“She came to me after the match and said, ‘I would like the release.’ I was taken aback. We had a very nice talk. We haven’t had an unpleasant conversation ever. I’ve always had a very good relationship with Tay. She has asked about stepping away recently. It hasn’t been a long thing, and also, I haven’t kept her here. Since that talk I haven’t brought her back, booked her, and I am going to give Tay that release.”
Tay Melo first started appearing on AEW programming in August of 2020 and it was confirmed in September of that same year that she had signed with the company. Now it seems that her run with All Elite Wrestling is about to come to an end.
Stay tuned for updates.
