This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite featured several Clockwork Carnage qualifying matches, one of which saw Adam Copeland pick up a win over Josh Alexander. While Copeland is heading to the AEW World Championship match at WrestleDream, it seems that wasn’t the original plan.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the belief is that Jay White was originally planned for Adam Copeland’s spot in the Clockwork Carnage match. However, White was injured during his match at the All Out pay-per-view.
With Christian Cage also suffering serious injuries at the same show, the Cope & Christian Cage tag team is now on hold, so it made sense to add Adam Copeland to the Clockwork Carnage match for the AEW World Championship at WrestleDream.
AEW WrestleDream will air live on Saturday, October 17th and the current card for the show can be seen below.
