Anything can happen in the WWE. It doesn’t matter if it’s Raw, SmackDown Live, a pay-per-view or a WWE live event, title changes can take place at any time in any place. WWE reminded everyone of that fact Friday night when AJ Styles challenged Kevin Owens for the United States Championship and he defeated Owens to win the belt for the first time in his career. You can see how it all went down below.
AJ Styles recently won an Independence Day Battle Royal to earn a shot at the United States Championship, but most people assumed if he was going to win the belt that he would be winning it at Battleground.
After his big victory, AJ Styles sat down for an interview and he talked about facing off against Kevin Owens in a rematch. Styles talked about how he had to win a battle royal to get a title shot, and he said maybe Owens should have to earn a rematch. He also said that fans don’t want to miss a Raw or SmackDown Live event, because title changes can happen at any time.
Speaking of title matches, Sunday night Brock Lesnar is set to defend his WWE Universal Title against Samoa Joe at the first ever Great Balls of Fire pay-per-view.
Brock Lesnar has also been added to another WWE pay-per-view, as he’s being advertised for No Mercy at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on September 24.
On this week’s episode of Still Real Radio we’re running down our predictions for the Great Balls of Fire pay-per-view and more. We’re also talking about the return of John Cena, his flag match with Rusev, and whether or not Bray Wyatt’s run on Raw is losing steam.
