Things have been going well for Braun Strowman. He’s one of the most popular stars on Monday Night Raw, and he’s been featured in a high profile feud with Roman Reigns for the past few months. Braun has been building momentum, and it seemed like he was heading for a Universal Title match with Great Balls of Fire, but unfortunately that won’t be happening because Strowman injured his elbow and he recently underwent surgery.

When news of Braun Strowman’s injury first surfaced online it was originally reported that he would likely be out of action for 4 to 6 weeks. That’s why fans were shocked when WWE announced that the Monster Among Men could be out up to 6 months.
It looks like WWE may be exaggerating when it comes to the status of Braun’s injury, as Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that the 6 month number is a work. It was noted that Strowman is expected to be ready for SummerSlam, and he’ll likely return in mid July to build up a feud with Brock Lesnar that will culminate with a match at the big event.
This week on Raw, Kurt Angle announced that Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns will face off in a fatal 5-way match at Extreme Rules to determine Lesnar’s opponent for Great Balls of Fire in July.
It was speculated that original plans likely called for Balor or Rollins to face Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, but now the match is being moved up to Great Balls of Fire due to Strowman’s injury.
