Although fans were elated to see Tye Dillinger make his Royal Rumble debut in San Antonio, it seems that the Perfect 10 is still a NXT superstar. In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter it was reported that Dillinger’s entry at #10 was simply done to avoid a negative reaction from the fans in attendance, seeing that it made nothing but good sense to have the Perfect 10 come in as the tenth entry. That being said, Dillinger is still part of the NXT roster, and almost all of the NXT talent watched his entrance as well.
One of the biggest negative reactions of the night might have been Dillinger’s elimination by Strowman from the match after spending just under five and a half minutes in the squared circle, but there are still no current plans to bring him up to the main roster full time.
This was made even more evident after there was no sign or mention of Tye Dillinger on the two main brand shows following the Royal Rumble.
It’s also being speculated that Shinsuke Nakamura will be brought up to the main roster following WrestleMania where he will most likely challenge Bobby Roode for the NXT title at Takeover Orlando. Therefore they need to work hard to secure more top names in the babyface category in developmental.
Tye Dillinger is extremely over, as well as comfortable in Full Sail, therefore he is a likely name to top the face side of the roster after Nakamura makes his jump to the main roster.
WWE also brought in 5 competitors from the United Kingdom Championship tournament, but they only ended up using Tyler Bate and Wolfgang on the show prior to the Takeover event going live on the WWE Network.
As far as Ember Moon’s status is concerned, it looks like she is being groomed to eventually face Asuka.
We’re officially on the Road to WrestleMania, but is it off to a rocky start? On this week’s episode of Still Real Radio we’re talking about what’s to come over the next few weeks and more. Really? Poor Tye Dillinger has been in developmental leagues now for over a decade. The guy can wrestle and entertain hence he is ready for main tv.
WWE really need to stop wasting talent like Tye Dillinger and Bobby Roode in a developmental league when both are 35 and 39 respectively and should be used to get a good few years of main roster quality work from them.
If it was up to me Bobby Roode, Tye Dillinger, Asuka and The Revival should all be main roster bound soon. All are definitely ready.
