There were many names that fans hoped would make a surprise entrance during the Royal Rumble last week, and Finn Balor was certainly on the top of everybody’s list. It was previously reported that Balor was in Alabama undergoing medical testing to be cleared for a return, but the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that he was not cleared.

There is a high probability that Balor was never even considered for a Royal Rumble entry according to reports, which means that any hope of Finn making a return was just another case of wishful thinking.

Balor’s current target date for his return is late February up to mid-March, which would still give him an opportunity to be part of a WrestleMania angle. However, his recovery from a multitude of injuries including a labrum tear, torn biceps, fractured glenoid neck socket, shoulder cartilage damage and a torn pectoral muscle will still need some more time to heal.

Balor has said that he is shooting for a WrestleMania return, and it looks like that isn’t out of the cards just yet.

The powerbomb on the barricade at Summerslam did a lot of damage to the Demon, and fans will just have to be patient until he is cleared. WWE wants to be certain before clearing any superstars to compete in the ring in this day and age, due to the transparency of the business, along with the litigious culture that comes with it.
