CM Punk is finally going to make his UFC debut on Saturday night. It’s been a long time coming, but the time has finally come.
Punk has been training since January of 2015, and he’s experienced several setbacks along the way. CM Punk’s journey to the octagon was filmed from day one and UFC is sharing the footage with fans through their “Evolution of Punk” documentary.
This week the final episode of the documentary series was released, and in the video business starts to pick up for Punk as he meets his opponent Mickey Gall, and gives it his all to try and win a three round sparring match. The end of the video also features “Cult of Personality” which could possibly be an indication that Punk will be using the track as his entrance song in UFC.
You can check out the video below.
The differences between Mickey Gall and CM Punk are evident in this week’s video as the footage also gives fans an inside look at Mickey’s training and his frame of mind going into the fight. It’s clear from the footage that Mickey Gall is hungry, fast, and not afraid to talk trash.
There’s a noticeable age difference between CM Punk who is 37, and Mickey Gall who is 24. Gall says that he’s been doing MMA for over 7 years and that gives him the advantage over CM Punk because Punk hasn’t put in the time, and isn’t developed like he is.
In the final “Evolution of Punk” video CM Punk shows major improvements compared to how he looked in the previous episodes. Although Punk has improved over the course of his training, he’s remained quiet. During a recent media call for UFC 203 he explained why he has no interest in talking trash at this point.
“I don’t see the need for it. You know? People either love me or hate me already. I’m not trying to talk anybody into the building on this one. I think the allure is just the fact that it’s happening. You know what I mean? And the story writes itself, so it’s not a fabricated thing where I need to, kind of create some drama between me and Mickey.”
CM Punk revealed in the video above that he feels that the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH is cursed because that’s the arena where he had his falling out with WWE. He admitted that he hopes to break the curse on Saturday.
Do you think CM Punk can break the curse and win his first MMA match at UFC 203? Sound off in the comments below.
I really enjoy that, but Cm Punk will loose that fight, unfortunately.
