Nia Jax first signed with WWE in 2014 and since then she’s gone on to achieve success as she’s won multiple championships, and competed against some of the biggest names in the women’s division. However, when she first showed up for her WWE tryout she wasn’t sure what to expect.

During a recent appearance on Keep It Aloha, Nia Jax reflected on her WWE tryout and she noted that she had some doubts regarding whether or not she was going to be picked. As the tryout rolled on the coaches encouraged Nia Jax and made it clear that they didn’t want her to change.

“So, when I walked into my tryout, every single girl there was a fitness girl, a fitness model, like either a cheerleader or they literally were in like a competition. So, I was totally out of my element there and thought, ‘Oh, for sure I’m not gonna be picked.’

But the coaches there that saw me, like Joey Mercury, Billy Gunn, Sara Amato, those were like three of my biggest coaches, best coaches. They were like, ‘No, you’re unique. Like, you’re different. You know, there’s nobody like you.’ And so they were big on making sure that I worked for my size.

If you as a casual fan watching, like if you just watch a bigger girl come out against a smaller girl, you’re already like, ‘Oh!’ It’s already like an attraction, where like, ‘Oh, she’s gonna get eaten alive.’ Not once did they ever tell me you gotta lose weight. They were like, ‘No, you’re perfect. We love this. This is the way you are.’”
