Survivor Series is one of WWE’s biggest shows of the year and ever since Triple H took over creative for WWE the WarGames matches have been the big attraction associated with the show. It’s been a while since fans have seen the traditional Survivor Series, but it looks like the match will be making a return this year.
During the latest episode of What’s Your Story? with Stephanie McMahon, Rey Mysterio revealed that he recently spoke to Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis, and they put together an idea for a traditional Survivor Series match at the Survivor Series PLE later this month.
“I had a couple of words with Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis, and we are going to put together something very special. A classic five vs. five Survivor Series match at Survivor Series where it will be Team USA vs. Team Mexico.”
Competitors for the matches have not been confirmed as of this writing, but considering the fact that Rey Mysterio is the General Manager for AAA it’s probably safe to assume that the match will feature some talent from the brand that he’s associated with.
It will be interesting to see if Rey Mysterio himself competes in the match as he’s still active in the ring. However, it was recently reported that Rey’s in-ring career is expected to wind down sooner than later, and you can get more on that here.
