This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite featured a number of qualifying matches for the upcoming Clockwork Carnage match at WrestleDream this weekend. Adam Copeland secured his spot in the match when he defeated Josh Alexander.
After the match Adam Copeland got on the mic and made a huge announcement when he revealed that 2027 will be his last year as a professional wrestler. Cope didn’t reveal much else in the way of details regarding his plans for his final year, but he did make it clear that he feels he needs to win the AEW World Championship before he retires.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select is reporting that they followed up with an AEW source ton inquire about more details regarding plans for Copeland’s retirement. It was noted that while nothing is set in stone at the moment regarding dates and locations, the source speculated that AEW will likely make an effort to have Toronto be the landing spot for Cope’s final match.
Prior to his AEW debut, Copeland wrestled his final match for WWE when he defeated Sheamus at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on the 8/18/23 episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
