Over the last few years Gunther has been working hard to establish himself as one of the top names in WWE. The Ring General has become a two time World Heavyweight Champion, and he’s also retired the likes of Goldberg, John Cena and AJ Styles.
Despite Gunther’s impressive accolades he appears to be lost in the shuffle on SmackDown as he went from being a contender for the Undisputed WWE Championship to feuding with Danhausen.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select is reporting that there’s been a mild sense of frustration and confusion when it comes to how Gunther is being used recently on SmackDown.
A source noted that Gunther’s current direction has raised questions among those in creative. According to the report there appears to be some uncertainty in regard to how WWE intends to capitalize on the momentum Gunther had built up in recent months. It’s being said that some are questioning if there was ever a plan for Gunther after he retired John Cena.
As of this writing WWE has not announced plans for Gunther for this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, but he is currently being advertised for the show.
