Earlier this year The New Day parted ways with WWE and a few days ago they officially made their AEW debut as The New Level at the All In pay-per-view. Following their debut at Wembley Stadium, The New Level have been discussing their WWE departure, and they recently confirmed that they were asked to take a pay cut that would have seen them lose more than 50% of what they were originally being paid.
While the other members of The New Day have moved on, Big E is still with WWE. Austin Creed recently spoke to CBS Sports about leaving WWE, and he recalled what it was like when he and Kofi delivered the news to Big E.
“It was intense. We got on the phone. We all talked and let him know what we were going to do. He obviously said, ‘Do what you have to do. Do what you need to do.’ So that image with the unicorn, that whole thing actually happened. Being able to express it through the animation was really cool. It was really cool seeing that it hit a chord with people. This means something to us. And it’s cool to see that it means something to everybody else too.”
The New Level & Swerve Strickland will be in action on this week’s episode of Dynamite as they are set to defend the AEW World Trios Championship against The Rascalz.
Stay tuned for updates.
