John Cena officially retired from in-ring competition after he was defeated by Gunther in December of 2025, and he’s indicated that he won’t be returning to the ring unless he’s offered an absurd amount of money.
Throughout John Cena’s career he faced off against some of the biggest names in the business, and he clashed with The Rock for the first time at WrestleMania 28. There was a lot of anticipation going into the match, which ended with The Rock pinning John Cena to pick up the victory.
Former WWE referee Mike Chioda commented on the result of the match recently on Twitter and claimed that, “John Cena was not happy about doing the job that night!”

Ultimately John Cena got his win back as a year later he defeated The Rock at WrestleMania 29 to become the new WWE Champion. Cena has stated in the past that he and The Rock at one point had a rocky relationship (no pun intended) but things seem to be good between the two of them as just last year Rock told Cena he is “truly the GOAT.”
