Last week’s episode of Raw featured a huge main event as CM Punk returned after almost three months away and defeated Sami Zayn to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion. Punk’s title win has been a very hot topic online, but it doesn’t sound like it’s been discussed nearly as much behind the scenes in WWE.
In a recent Fightful Select Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp noted that there wasn’t an uproar backstage after CM Punk won the Undisputed WWE Championship on Raw like there was online. It was noted that there would have been an uproar behind the scenes if Punk had immediately won the title after he returned to WWE in 2023.
It’s being said that there were some people with sour feelings. However, the largest portion of talent work with CM Punk amicably and know that he’s going to be a big part of WWE.
Following his win on Raw, CM Punk made his first appearance on SmackDown as the Undisputed WWE Champion last week. Shortly after he was confronted by Cody Rhodes and it was confirmed that The Second City Saint will defend his title against The American Nightmare at SummerSlam.
It’s also being reported that CM Punk is expected to appear on SmackDown much more moving forward now that he is officially part of the blue brand.
