This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite aired live from Clearwater, Florida and it was the special Beach Break edition of the show. Beach Break featured a huge main event as MJF put the AEW World Championship on the line when he defended the belt against Kenny Omega.
Per the stipulation for the match it was announced ahead of time that Kenny Omega would never be able to challenge for the AEW World Championship ever again if MJF were to defeat him.
MJF and Kenny wasted no time as they quickly exchanged strikes as soon as the bell rang. Early on Kenny Omega tried for One Winged Angel, but MJF was able to shift his weight which sent both men flying over the top rope. MJF jumped over the barricade, so Kenny followed him and they fought through the crowd for a few minutes before returning to the ring.
Omega tried for a V-Trigger, which MJF blocked by pulling the referee in front of him. MJF tried for the Heatseeker and Kenny got out of it. He then used the ropes to pull Kenny over the top and hit a cutter on the challenger instead.
They fought up the ramp and Kenny Omega did a moonsault off a lifeguard chair that set up on the stage. Back in the ring Kenny took control of the match. He tried for another V-Trigger, which MJF countered with a drop toe hold into the ropes. MJF connected with a double underhook piledriver for a two count.
MJF cleared off the announce table then got up on the apron. He set Kenny up for a Tombstone and Kenny got out of it. Kenny ran the ropes and finally connected with the V-Trigger to send MJF through the announce table.
Kenny Omega poured water on MJF then MJF tried to get back in the ring. Kenny grabbed him then put the champion down with a chop. Kenny Omega tried for One Winged Angel on the apron, but MJF raked his eyes. Kenny went for a moonsault off the barricade and MJF got his knees up. MJF followed up by hitting Kenny with a Tombstone on a steel chair that was set up at ringside. After that MJF started to favor his left knee, which was wrapped up.
MJF tried for the Heatseeker but Omega pushed him off. Kenny hit a V-Trigger then went for One Winged Angel. MJF fought out of it. He hit another V-Trigger in the corner then put MJF on the top rope. He put MJF on his shoulders and MJF hit a reverse hurricanrana then connected with the Heatseeker. Kenny kicked out at two.
Max grabbed the AEW World Championship and brought it into the ring. The referee stopped him and took the belt. As the ref was removing the belt Max pulled out the Dynamite Diamond Ring. Will Ospreay ran out and took the Dynamite Diamond Ring from MJF. While the ref was distracted by Ospreay, Omega went to hit MJF with the belt, but MJF fell to his knees and begged for mercy. MJF then hit Kenny with a low blow followed by a belt shot and Omega kicked out at one.
Kenny landed two more V-Triggers one right after another, followed by a third. He got Max up on his shoulders and connected with One Winged Angel to win the AEW World Championship.
