The road to WrestleMania 42 was full of celebrities and both Pat McAfee and Jelly Roll somehow became key figures in Randy Orton’s rivalry with Cody Rhodes. While McAfee and Jelly Roll were written out of the storyline at WrestleMania, it doesn’t seem that Jelly Roll originally wanted to be involved with such a high profile feud.

Bootleg Kev recently talked about Jelly Roll’s involvement with WWE on the road to WrestleMania, and he claimed that the singer originally wanted to be part of a comedy storyline instead.

“I’m really close to Jelly Roll. He was very self-aware that he was being pushed into a storyline that he probably didn’t need to be pushed into. He was pushing – he was being very vocal about wanting to be involved in a storyline that is still playing out currently that was more comedic.

He was like, ‘Guys, if you put me into this thing, I promise you it’s going to cook. It’s going to f**k.’ I was there at SmackDown in Phoenix and I heard him having these convos with certain people at WWE. They still decided to – and look, if you’re him, you’re like, ‘Hey man, if you’re going to push me into the main event of WrestleMania, I’m not going to say no.’ But, I don’t think people are going to [like it].”

Following the night 1 main event of WrestleMania 42, Jelly Roll made his feelings clear when he said, “I had one goal and I kinda succeeded. Pat I love you man, neither one of us had any business here. I say we get back to what we’re good at.”
