Cody Rhodes is the current Undisputed WWE Champion and he stepped into the ring on Saturday night when he defended the title against Randy Orton in the night 1 main event of WrestleMania 42.
Ultimately Cody managed to retain his title, but he suffered an injury in the process. Following the match WWE confirmed that Rhodes suffered an orbital injury and the company released footage showing that his eye was completely swollen shut.
The American Nightmare was pulled from his appearances at WWE World on Sunday, and it was announced during the pre-show for night 2 of WrestleMania 42 that Cody is not cleared to compete, and there is no timeline for his return.
Bodyslam is reporting that sources have indicated Cody Rhodes is not expected to relinquish the Undisputed WWE Championship as of right now. It’s being said that WWE will continue to monitor Cody’s health in the days to come.
While the Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania typically features the biggest names from Raw and SmackDown, Cody Rhodes is not currently being advertised for the show tonight. Cody is however still being advertised for SmackDown on Friday as of this writing.
Stay tuned for updates.
