The King of the Ring tournament kicked off a few weeks ago and the finals are set to take place at the upcoming Night of Champions premium live event. Randy Orton recently defeated Sami Zayn to advance to the finals, and this week on Raw, Jey Uso faced off against Cody Rhodes in the main event to determine who would go on to face The Viper.
Near the end of the match Cody went for the Disaster Kick, but Jey Uso dodged it and connected with a spear for a two count. Jey went for another spear which was countered by Cody who connected with a Cody Cutter off the top rope. Cody went for the pin as Jey Uso kicked out at two.
Cody called for the Cross Rhodes as Jey struggled to get up. The American Nightmare attempted to hit his finisher, but Jey reversed it into a Cross Rhodes of his own. Jey looked shocked when Cody kicked out.
Jey went to the corner one more time then connected with a superkick while Cody was trying to get up. He landed another superkick followed by a spear. Jey went to the top rope for an Uso Splash then Cody hopped up to the top rope. He hit Jey with a cutter off the top then connected with the Cross Rhodes to win the match.
After the match Cody Rhodes showed respect to Jey Uso and Jey held Cody’s arm up as Raw went off the air. Cody will now go on to face Randy Orton in the King of the Ring finals at Night of Champions.
