AEW held their biggest event ever last month with All In at Wembley Stadium, but following the show the wrestling world was talking about CM Punk’s backstage altercation with Jack Perry. It was announced over the weekend that CM Punk had been fired, and now it seems that another name is done with the company as well.

PWInsider is now reporting that Ace Steel was released today. Ace Steel started working for WWE as a coach in November of 2019, but he was eventually released from the company in January of 2022. Following the AEW Revolution pay-per-view in 2022, Tony Khan confirmed that Ace Steel had started working for the company in a backstage role.

In August of 2022, Ace Steel made an appearance on Dynamite when he convinced CM Punk to sign Jon Moxley’s open contract for a match at All Out. CM Punk won the AEW World Championship in the main event, but after the show went off the air both Punk and Steel were involved in a backstage altercation with The Elite. During the altercation Ace Steel allegedly bit Kenny Omega.

Following the backstage incident Ace Steel was fired, but eventually he was brought back to AEW at the insistence of CM Punk. Originally the plan was for Steel to work on Collision with CM Punk. However, the decision was made that Ace Steel would only be allowed to work remotely instead of being on site at TV tapings.
