Every wrestler in WWE is trying to make it to the top and there have been a few breakout stars who have become increasingly more popular this year. Sami Zayn happens to be one of them as Sami became one of the most talked about Superstars on the roster when he was one of the key figures in The Bloodline storyline.
Zayn was able to ride that wave of momentum to a WrestleMania main event where he and Kevin Owens defeated The Usos to win the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship. However, Sami Zayn hasn’t exactly been booked as a top guy recently as he was pinned in the six man tag team match that main evented Raw earlier this week.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Sami Zayn often loses matches because WWE doesn’t think it’s a big deal when he gets beat. It was also noted that WWE saw Sami Zayn as a guy who got over as a fluke, and the company didn’t see him having potential beyond a certain level. It’s also being reported that when Sami Zayn got to the top level they knew it wouldn’t last, so WWE booked it to make sure that it didn’t.
When Sami Zayn stepped up to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Elimination Chamber there were many fans calling for him to win the belt due to how popular he was at the time. Ultimately Roman Reigns retained the championship, and it doesn’t seem that WWE has any plans to put Sami in the title picture in the future.
