Randy Orton has been one of the top stars in WWE for decades now, but it’s been a while since fans have seen Orton on WWE programming. The former WWE Champion has been out of action since May of 2022, and it was reported that he underwent back fusion surgery back in November.

There’s been a lot of talk about Randy Orton’s status as of late, and his father recently claimed that doctors have told Randy not to return to the ring. If Randy decides to call it a career then it doesn’t sound like he’ll have to worry about money as Dave Meltzer revealed on Wrestling Observer Radio that Orton has been making millions of dollars a year for quite some time.

“Look, Randy’s made, I’d say, three and a half, four million dollars a year for years and years and years! Before everyone’s salary was escalating when AEW started, Randy was making big money long before that. So, he should be set.”

Meltzer went on to note that if The Viper does indeed want to return then it won’t be happening anytime soon as he has a long recovery ahead, and there’s also the possibility that Orton might not want to return if he can’t perform at a high level.

“I think he had his back fused. So, that’s a long recovery anyway. I don’t expect him back soon. He could go in there and say, ‘You know what? I’ve got a lot of money, I’ve got kids, and it would be great to go seven more years. I’ve got a great schedule.’ Even if he comes back, he’s got a great schedule, and I can make a lot of money on a great schedule. But do I want to perform half-a**? Probably not.”
