It’s been a shocking week for WWE as the company released a number of key figures from NXT, and earlier today the releases continued when Gabe Sapolsky was let go. It looks like Gabe wasn’t the only one who was released today as Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful is reporting that former NXT Champion Samoa Joe is no longer with the company.
Samoa Joe has been released by WWE, Fightful has confirmed with the company.

Samoa Joe was removed from commentary back in April following WrestleMania 37, and he was released from the company a few days later. However, Triple H brought Samoa Joe back to NXT in June and he originally started appearing as William Regal’s enforcer.
Joe eventually returned to in-ring competition and defeated Karrion Kross to win the NXT Championship at NXT TakeOver 36, but Samoa Joe had to relinquish the belt due to injury in September. The former champion had recently been working behind the scenes after stepping away from the ring.
Stay tuned for updates.
