WWE has released a number of Superstars this year due to budget cuts, and one of the more shocking names to be released was Aleister Black. Ironically shortly after Black was released his wife Zelina Vega ended up making her WWE return after getting released from the company last year.
Black recently appeared on Metal Injection’s Squared Circle Pit podcast and he revealed that he started laughing after he found out about his release while his wife Zelina Vega started crying.
“It’s funny, but as soon as I got released, my wife started crying. And I actually started laughing because they built me up for 5-6 weeks, they made me come back [to SmackDown], and now they’re pulling me off TV again? I just couldn’t take the whole situation seriously anymore.”
“I realized that this was not worth it anymore. I felt huge relief and just started laughing, and I immediately knew that was the feeling of freedom, and not having to deal with it anymore.”
Malakai Black wasted no time getting back down to business following his release as he made his AEW debut a few weeks ago after his 30 day non compete clause with WWE expired.
On @SquaredCirclPit, @TommyEnd revealed when he got the news of his release, his wife cried but he couldn’t help but laugh. He said @AEW was the plan from the moment he got the news.
