After weeks of speculation, CM Punk finally put the rumors to rest on Tuesday night when he appeared on WWE Backstage and announced that he will be returning next week to work as a host.
PWInsider is reporting that CM Punk’s return was kept a secret from everyone with the exception of Renee Young as a way to prevent the return from leaking ahead of time.
It’s also being reported that CM Punk has indeed signed a deal with FOX, but he hasn’t signed anything with WWE. The two sides had been circling a deal and it was signed over the last few days.
The decision to bring Punk on the show was 100% FOX’s call, but it’s being said that WWE gave Punk’s return their personal blessing.
The plan is for CM Punk to appear on WWE Backstage regularly, but he won’t be on the show every week.
