AJ Styles is and has been one of the top stars in WWE for years now, and he’s cemented his legacy by becoming a WWE Grand Slam Champion. But there was once a time when fans wondered how far AJ’s career could go when he was trying to climb the ladder in TNA.
To many The Phenomenal One was considered to be the face of TNA, but it seemed that he struggled to reach the next level that he was trying to get to.
During a recent episode of his My World podcast WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett talked about working with AJ Styles in TNA, and he noted that at one point he had to tell AJ Styles to get more selfish.
“You can be this team player to a fault. We’ll get into AJ Styles stories. I can’t tell you, and he’ll tell you this, I can’t tell you how many conversations I had with AJ in, we’ll call it the early TNA, ‘04, ‘05, ‘06, and I’d look at him and say, ‘Dude, if you don’t get selfish, you’re never gonna arrive. I mean, never.’ I would tell him, ‘Trust me, learn from my mistakes.’”
