The wrestling world can’t stop talking about CM Punk following his big AEW debut a few weeks ago, and he’s set to wrestle his first official match since 2014 at the All Out pay-per-view this weekend.
After parting ways with WWE in 2014 CM Punk decided to pursue a career in MMA, but it seems that he has officially retired according to MMAFighting.com.
The report notes that CM Punk recently informed UFC of his decision to retire so that he could be removed from the company’s anti-doping program. Punk had been regularly tested by the United States Anti-Doping Agency, and he had been tested 6 times in 2020 alone.
Punk has not been tested in 2021, and it was noted that he notified UFC of his retirement while he was planning his deal with All Elite Wrestling.
CM Punk lost his debut fight to Mickey Gall at UFC 203 back in September of 2016, and he was defeated by Mike Jackson at UFC 225 in 2018. The decision for the Mike Jackson match was later overturned and ruled a no contest after Jackson tested positive for marijuana.
