A few weeks ago Shane McMahon and SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan announced that the first ever WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion would be crowned at Backlash.
Becky Lynch, Natalya, Naomi, Nikki Bella, Alexa Bliss and Carmella all faced off in a six-pack challenge elimination match, and it was Becky Lynch who walked out with the gold.
Alexa Bliss was the first to go after Naomi and Natalya teamed up to hit her with a super-blockbuster powerbomb from the top rope. Natalya then put Naomi in the Sharpshooter, and Naomi tapped out. Natalya was next to be eliminated after Nikki Bella took her out with her new finisher.
As soon as Nikki Bella eliminated Natalya, Carmella pinned Nikki Bella to eliminate her.
Becky Lynch and Carmella then faced off one on one and Carmella dominated Becky with several slaps. Becky fought back with several suplexes but then Carmella took her down once again.
Carmella went to finish Becky off, but Becky made Carmella tap out to the Dis-Arm-Her to become the first ever WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion.

While Becky Lynch was celebrating in the ring after the match the fans chanted, “You deserve it!”
After the match Becky thanked all her fans and joked that she’s never won anything like the SmackDown Women’s Championship, so she didn’t know how to hold the belt. Becky Lynch said that she’s put in a lot of years, and she thanked the crowd for singing her entrance music.
