Whether you like it or not, Bill Goldberg is the current WWE Universal Champion. That’s right folks, Goldberg challenged Kevin Owens for the Universal Title Sunday night at Fastlane and he squashed Owens in no time at all.
Goldberg of course had a little bit of help from Kevin’s former best friend Chris Jericho. A few weeks ago on Raw, Owens turned on Chris Jericho during the Festival of Friendship and he gave him a beating he will never forget. Jericho decided to get a little revenge on Sunday by making his way to the entrance ramp during the title match, and when his music hit Kevin Owens got distracted then Goldberg capitalized.
When it comes to Goldberg matches, fans don’t expect much, and they didn’t switch up the formula on Sunday, as the contest was only 22 seconds from bell to bell.
Bill will now be walking into WrestleMania 33 with the Universal Title, which means it will be on the line when he faces off against Brock Lesnar. That means by the time it’s all said and done, either Goldberg or Brock Lesnar will be walking out of WrestleMania with the belt.
