The Young Bucks have found a lot of success without the support of WWE, but that doesn’t mean that they’re not on the company’s radar. The Bucks have worn their influences on their sleeves and they’ve flaunted the “Too Sweet” hand gesture and DX crotch chops with no shame over the years.
But in 2017, WWE decided that enough was enough, and they send The Bucks a cease and desist telling them they could no longer use the “Too Sweet” hand gesture. The Young Bucks recently spoke to Sports Illustrated about the “Too Sweet” and they noted that now they don’t even feel strange not doing it.
“People said our careers were over when the ‘Too Sweet’ hand gesture was taken from us,” Matt Jackson said. “Now, it doesn’t even feel strange not doing it. People said we only knew how to work one style. Then we switched it up completely. People said Bullet Club had peaked for years now. Yet, here we are, as we continue to help it stay interesting and popular.”
The Bucks have managed to build up a very solid fanbase online, and there seem to be quite a few people out there who enjoy watching the Being The Elite YouTube series. Nick Jackson noted that the original plan for the series was to shoot it like a documentary, but they decided to go in a different direction.
“I always knew it was going to be big for us, but I’m not sure that I thought it would be this big. Originally I just wanted it all to be shot like a documentary on a weekly basis, but Matt thought of adding storylines and I think that’s what has brought it to heights we didn’t know it would reach. It’s pretty awesome to see and I’m flattered anytime someone says they watch every week.”
