A few weeks ago Triple H revealed the new WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt and he recently declared that a tournament will be held to crown the first champion. The tournament will include competitors from Raw and SmackDown and it is set to kick off tonight.
Triple H explained that two triple threat matches will be held on Raw, and two triple threat matches will be held on SmackDown. The winners of each match will face off later in the night then go to on compete in the finals at Night of Champions. PWInsider Elite is reporting that the following WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament matches will take place tonight on Raw:
Damian Priest vs. Seth Rollins vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
Finn Balor vs. The Miz vs. Cody Rhodes
On Friday night Edge, AJ Styles, Rey Mysterio, Sheamus, Austin Theory and Bobby Lashley will compete in the tournament, but the triple threat matches for SmackDown have not been revealed yet.
