The final match in round one of the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament featured Tucker against Tyler Bate. Bate revealed in his opening promo package that he has named his fists “bop and bang” which is a pretty entertaining piece of business.
Michael Cole mentioned that Tucker blew out his ACL about a year ago, and wondered if that injury might come into play although 19-year-old Tucker didn’t seem to let that slow him down as both competitors started the match off by moving very quickly.
Bate hit Tucker with a stiff looking left jab, but Tucker soon jumped to the top rope and took his opponent down with a back elbow strike to a standing Tyler Bate. Michael Cole points out that the atmosphere is incredible and you could tell by watching this final match of the opening round.
“This is wrestling” chants broke out in the crowd as the two men traded offensive moves before Tucker gained control with a slingshot downward spiral move.
Tucker was baited into the corner allowing Bate to hit a springboard uppercut on Tucker. Bate attempted a Tyler Driver but the move was reversed. Bate moved to the outside and caught Tucker with a stiff looking forearm to greet a suicide dive attempt from Tucker.
Tucker thew Tyler Bate on the outside but Bate dodged the ring post. Tucker hit Tyler Bate with a head scissors takedown on the outside ramp as a response.
When the action return to the Bate hit Tucker with a very long and disorienting airplane spin. Tucker answered by with a stellar kick to Bate’s head which drove him out of the ring.
Tucker went outside to retrieve Bate and rolled him him back inside for a very close two-count. Tucker attempted a swanton bomb on Bate but Tyler was able to get his knees up.
Tyler Bate hit a Tyler Driver on Tucker and that was all she wrote for the 19-year-old. Bate advances in the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament in a match that deservingly concluded the opening round.
