We’re heading into WrestleMania and Cody Rhodes is getting ready to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. This week on Monday Night Raw, Cody Rhodes faced off against Solo Sikoa, and Cody ended Solo’s undefeated streak when he picked up the win.
Ahead of the match Paul Heyman cut a promo saying that Cody’s match with Solo was relevant because Solo was ready to weaken Cody Rhodes before he faces Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. Heyman emphasized that the idea behind Cody vs. Solo is to give Roman Reigns an advantage heading into the title match on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
Dave Meltzer discussed Paul Heyman’s promo on Wrestling Observer Radio and he noted that it was done in a way that was meant to protect Solo as his undefeated streak came to an end.
“That was that. That was, that was basically the way that he could lose. Because they’ve already told you ahead of time he wasn’t trying to win. So it was basically the promo was to protect solo because he was going to do the job.”
WrestleMania is going to be a big weekend for The Bloodline as Roman Reigns will be defending the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes and The Usos will be defended the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles against Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens. Solo Sikoa does not have a match, but it’s probably safe to say that he’ll be getting involved in some way shape or form. Stay tuned for updates.
