For years Claudio Castagnoli performed in WWE as Cesaro, but his contract expired months ago and in June he made his debut with All Elite Wrestling.

Even though Claudio no longer works for WWE he still has plenty of friends there who clearly have not forgotten about him. During WWE’s recent Sunday Stunner event in Fort Lauderdale, FL fans saw The New Day face off against The Usos, and Xavier Woods referenced Claudio when he applied his signature headlock.

Claudio Castagnoli has been on a roll since joining AEW and it was recently confirmed that he will challenge Jonathan Gresham for the ROH World Championship at Death Before Dishonor. The former WWE star recently spoke to Sports Illustrated about the match and he explained what winning the title would mean to him.

“This is my pursuit—the main event and the world heavyweight championship. I’ve seen that pursuit destroy people. Those sacrifices ate them up, always seeking one more run. I’ve never sacrificed my authenticity or integrity. My destiny is my journey. I want to take fans on that ride, and hopefully win the world title along the way.”
