The Royal Rumble premium live event kicked off with the women’s Royal Rumble match and Alexa Bliss for the wrestling world talking when she made her first appearance on WWE programming in over two years.

Fightful Select is reporting that the return of Alexa Bliss was a late decision, and despite the comments made during the Royal Rumble broadcast, reports from PWInsider and the Wrestling Observer regarding Alexa’s status heading into the show were accurate.

As of the start of Saturday other participants in the women’s Royal Rumble had no idea that Alexa Bliss would be in the match, and she wasn’t at rehearsals on Friday.

Originally Shotzi was planned for Alexa’s spot in the women’s Royal Rumble which would have been her first main roster appearance since the Royal Rumble last year. Shotzi had been out of action due to injury, but she returned to NXT last month. The belief is that she was just supposed to get reps in before making her return to the main roster.

It’s being said that those who spoke on the subject were happy to see Alexa Bliss return and didn’t hold anything against her, although some did feel bad for Shotzi due to how the situation unfolded.
