For years Bryan Danielson was one of the top stars in WWE and crowds all over the world were constantly chanting “Yes” to show support for Bryan. Back in July, Bryan Danielson filed to trademark the “Yes” catchphrase, but it appears that WWE took notice.
While speaking with Luke James Chats, Bryan Danielson explained that he received a legal letter shortly after his manager filed to trademark the catchphrase.
“Well so, it’s weird. I applied for it (‘Yes’ chant trademark) but then I got — it wasn’t necessarily a cease and desist. I got some sort of legal letter from WWE (he laughed). Listen, listen, it’s really weird because my manager just texted me and said, ‘Hey, this thing is available. Do you wanna get it?’”
“And I was like, ‘How much does it cost?’ And it wasn’t that much and I was like, ‘Okay, sure’ and then, shortly after that, I got an email from WWE saying, oh, ‘This is infringing’ on this or that or whatever and I’m like, ‘Dude, I’m not trying to sell anybody anything. I just do my thing.’”
Last month Bryan Danielson won the AEW World Heavyweight Championship for the first time in his career when he defeated Swerve Strickland in the main event at All In. Danielson will put his belt on the line this weekend when he defends the title against Jack Perry at All Out.
