Roman Reigns has been the Universal Champion since September of 2020, and since then he’s successfully defended his title a handful of times.
The Universal Title picture is stacked right now, as Daniel Bryan is trying to earn himself a title shot at Fastlane, and The Tribal Chief is currently set to defend his belt against Edge at WrestleMania 37.
How the Universal Title picture will shake out after WrestleMania remains to be seen, but it looks like the champion could have a worthy challenger waiting for them.
In recent weeks Cesaro has been getting a push on the SmackDown brand, and his quest to win a major championship has been emphasized. Unfortunately for him he failed to win the Elimination Chamber match last week, and it doesn’t look like he’ll be getting a title opportunity until after the Show of Shows.
Dave Meltzer discussed Cesaro’s status on Wrestling Observer Radio and he speculated that WWE is waiting until after WrestleMania to put Cesaro in the title picture.
Right now it seems that the wrestling world is talking about Cesaro, so it will be interesting to see if he can keep his momentum going through WrestleMania season and beyond.
