Recently it was reported that WWE officials were fining wrestlers for “thigh slapping” to make sound effects when they throw kicks, and that a memo regarding the thigh slapping edict was given to NXT talents.
It was also reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that “do not slap leg when kicking” signs were placed backstage at recent WWE events. The signs were placed at the gorilla position, outside of the gorilla position, and in other places backstage during Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown last week.
Dave Meltzer noted that the same instructions regarding leg slaps are being given to main roster talent, but it’s unclear if fines are being enforced for the main roster stars.
The new edict was apparently created after a SmackDown star did a leg slap that made Vince McMahon mad.
