It’s no big secret that WWE has been hoping to book The Rock vs. Roman Reigns for WrestleMania, but it was recently reported that The Great One isn’t expected to wrestle on the Grandest Stage of Them All this year. Now it seems that the company is trying to line up another big match for The Tribal Chief.
Fightful Select is reporting that a pitch was made internally for Steve Austin to face Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. It’s being said that Austin’s camp was approached with the possibility of the match happening and the offer was said to have been for enormous money.
In the summer of 2022 Fightful reported that Steve Austin was offered a deal that wasn’t as appealing from a financial standpoint. Another source also indicated that Austin was offered another big name in the months prior. There’s currently no word on whether or not he has accepted WWE’s more recent offer.
Steve Austin made his return to the ring last year when he defeated Kevin Owens in the main event of WrestleMania 38 night 1. Stay tuned for more updates on his status for WrestleMania 39 as they become available.
