The wrestling world has had to make some major adjustments due to the coronavirus pandemic, and earlier this year WWE had to cancel all of their live events.
At this point there’s no telling when things will go back to normal, but the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that talent in WWE have been told during recent contract negotiations that the old way of touring in WWE will not becoming back, regardless of the status of the country if and when it bounces back.
That point was further emphasized when WWE released about a dozen employees from the live events division, including Tony Chimel.
WWE has been setting record profits without live events, and live events have reportedly caused the company to lose money over the last year.
It was thought that house shows were good for WWE in terms of merchandise sales, but WWE Shop sales skyrocketed this year and ended up being identical to what the company would make running live events, which shocked everyone.
