WWE has released a number of WWE Superstars over the last few years, and recently Mustafa Ali took to social media to announce that he had requested to be released from his contract. The Friday Night SmackDown Superstar confirmed the release request when he posted the following message:

“I have a message that is much bigger than my dreams in pro wrestling. Despite my best efforts, I will not be able to deliver this message while working with WWE. Therefore, I am requesting my release from WWE.”

Fightful Select reports that WWE and Mustafa Ali have spoken with each other, and that the company has informed Ali that they will not be granting his release request, and there are currently no plans to release him.

Mustafa Ali hasn’t been used at WWE television tapings in over two months, but it’s being said that he still has years left on his contract with the company. Some had suspected that Ali had been off TV due to paternity leave, but it’s being reported that he had only asked to take one show off.

Stay tuned for more updates on Mustafa Ali’s status as they become available.
