WWE reshuffled the deck a few weeks ago with the 2020 WWE Draft, and the rosters for Raw and SmackDown are now looking a little different.
Former NXT Champion Aleister Black was moved to the Friday Night SmackDown brand, but he hasn’t had much to do since he jumped ship from Raw.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the release of Black’s wife, Zelina Vega, has nothing to do with Black being forgotten about, or with Black wanting to return to NXT.
It was also noted that WWE officials “don’t see anything in Black” and that ever since Paul Heyman was fired as Raw Executive Director they’ve been struggling to find a place for him on the card.
Meltzer went on to say that Drew McIntyre and Aleister Black were Paul Heyman’s two top choices to defeat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania this year. In the end McIntyre got the big victory, but Heyman intended to protect Aleister Black and book him like a top star following WrestleMania.
It’s being said that Black’s career could be resurrected, but it doesn’t look good right now.
