Ronda Rousey seems to be getting close to WWE and even if she doesn’t show up at the Royal Rumble, there’s still a very good chance fans will be seeing her eventually on the Road To WrestleMania. WWE Hall Of Famer Diamond Dallas Page recently spoke to TMZ Sports where he went into just how much of a difference Ronda Rousey could have in WWE.
“Rousey will get that same kind of attention like when [Mike] Tyson came in, and they did a thing with Steve [Austin] and Shawn Michaels, which was money,” Page commented. “It really helped balance the [Monday Night] War, and eventually gave [WWE] the edge.”
He went on to compare Ronda Rousey to not only Mike Tyson but also said that a possible match between Rowdy Ronda and Charlotte Flair could be excellent. DDP compared a match with the former UFC Bantamweight Champion and The Queen to his first match against Goldberg for the WCW World Title in 1998.
“I think Rousey coming in is pure money and I think that Charlotte is so good at what she does,” Page replied. “My first match with Bill Goldberg, it was for the World Title in 1998, Bill had only been wrestling a year. Well, we stole the show. Because I was going to make Bill look as good as he was, and he was great. He had that incredible charisma, personality, and that ‘it’ factor, Rousey has that same thing. I think if it’s built like that, it could be really great.”
Ronda Rousey has been training in the ring for a while now and focusing her efforts on polishing up her in-ring work. Hopefully, if a debut does happen sooner than later she’ll be ready to show us all what she has because there are a lot of expectations on someone like her coming into WWE.
