Last month WWE’s deal with Endeavor officially closed and WWE merged with UFC to form a new publicly traded company called TKO. After the merger took place WWE cut over 100 employees and then went on to release a number of wrestlers as well.

Matt Riddle happened to be one of the names who got released which got a lot of people talking. The former United States Champion had been working with Drew McIntyre on screen, and WrestleVotes is reporting that there were significant plans for the team. According to the report merchandise items were designed for the Drew McIntyre/Matt Riddle tag team which was set to be known as McRiddle.

“Prior to his departure from the company, I’m told there were significant plans for a Matt Riddle / Drew McIntyre tag team. So much so, various merchandise items were designed with the team name……. “McRiddle.”

This is not a joke.”

It looks like we’ll never know what could have been when it comes to the McRiddle tag team now that Riddle is no longer part of the roster. With Drew McIntyre once again focused on singles competition it seems that Drew is slowly turning heel which should make for some interesting TV over the next few months.
