WWE has released quite a few Superstars over the last few months, one which was former NXT Champion Aleister Black who got let go on June 2nd. Black has been a hot topic over the last few months, and he shocked the world Wednesday night when he made his surprise debut at AEW Dynamite: Road Rager.
Aleister Black attacked both Arn Anderson and Cody Rhodes when he hit them with Black Mass, and it’s been confirmed that he will be known as Malakai Black in All Elite Wrestling.
The surprise debut left many fans to wonder how Malakai Black could appear in AEW so soon after his release, and it was reported that he only had a 30 day non-compete clause as opposed to the standard 90 day non-compete clause.
It looks like WWE is trying to avoid a similar situation with other former Superstars as Fightful Select reports that the company called Buddy Murphy in a panic after he was released.
“He confirmed that his non-compete is 90 days, but that WWE called him in a panic after his release, thinking that his might also be 30 as a result of what happened with the former Aleister Black.”
It seems that Buddy Murphy will be a free agent when his non-compete expires on August 31st, so it will be interesting to see where the former Cruiserweight Champion ends up next.
