The jury is still out on Bobby Fish but he did go down with a knee injury during a recent NXT live show. It was said his knee was hurt but he still needs to be evaluated to really know the extent of the damage.

Hopefully, the NXT Tag Team Champion will be okay. But apparently, there could be a backup plan in place just in case a decision needs to be made concerning what to do with the NXT Tag Team Titles.

“This is not official or anything like that but the rumor is that if something has gone terribly wrong with Bobby Fish then the titles will probably be going to the winners of the Dusty Classic,” Bryan Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Live. “Then I guess the new Undisputed Era team would be Kyle O’Reilly and Adam Cole. So I guess we’ll know more, I mean [Bobby Fish] is going in for the MRI.”

It would be great if Bobby Fish’s knee injury isn’t that bad. Sometimes all you need to do is keep off your injury for a short time and then once it gets evaluated things are okay. Although someone like Bobby Fish might not have gone down due to an injury that wasn’t extremely painful but let’s try to keep a positive outlook on things.

So it looks like WWE could be hedging their bets just in case Bobby Fish is unable to compete at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans. The winner of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic would be a good choice for the NXT Tag Team Titles. After all, the winner of the annual NXT tag team tournament usually gets a title shot after they win and the Authors Of Pain even translated that opportunity in an NXT Tag Team Title reign last year.

Only time will tell, but it looks like we have yet another “wait and see” situation in the world of pro wrestling.
